We thought the best explanation would come from the founder of the technique, Ross Emmett. To find a short video interview of Ross in which he explains his early years with animals and how Steve and I came to be sharing our interpretation of his work, CLICK HERE.

Many years on, the passion grows stronger and we feel blessed to be able to share this amazing therapy with you all.

G’day all.

Below is some information provided by Kylie Lightmon, Certified Homeopathic Practitioner. Some of you will know Kylie from our Queensland horse courses and we are happy to give some space here for her to share some information with us. Kylie will also be a regular contributor to the Hors-E-News so keep an eye out for her information over the coming weeks. Enjoy!

Homeopathy and Homeopathic First Aid Kits

Firstly, I would like to thank Steve & Kath for giving me the opportunity to promote my Equine Homoeopathic First Aid Kits. These remedies work wonderfully in conjunction with the Equus Muscle Management Technique when there is a musculoskeletal problem, and also in the treatment of other stable / paddock / float injuries such as deep lacerations, puncture wounds, insect bites, nerve injuries, shock etc.

WHAT IS HOMOEOPATHY ?

Homoeopathy is a healing science that was developed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, approx 200 years ago & has remained relatively unchanged since then. His interest in a safer medicine led him to develop the ideas put forth by Hippocrates in the 4th Century B.C. It is a gentle, natural form of medicine that differs from orthodox medicine in the most fundamental of its principles. It strives to heal from within, reaching down to the very depths of human vitality, to the source of illness and the body’s natural inbuilt defence mechanisms.

It stimulates the immune system to overcome the state of dis-ease & create a state of internal balance, renewed health, vitality and an improved sense of well-being.

HOMOEOPATHIC PHILOSOPHY

The method of healing adhered to by Homoeopaths relies upon the ?Law of Similars? to obtain results. Put simply, this law states that a particular substance given in large quantities to a healthy person, will produce certain signs & symptoms. When this same substance is given in Homoeopathic doses to a sick person, it will improve the very same symptoms that the original substance created in the healthy person.

IS IT SAFE?

When prescribed by a Certified Homoeopathic Practitioner, homoeopathic remedies are safe to use for adults, children, the elderly & animals. They are non-toxic if used in accordance with directions and are non-addictive.

EQUINE HOMOEOPATHIC FIRST AID KIT

The remedies chosen for this particular First Aid Kit have been selected primarily to assist in the treatment of the most common day-to-day equine accidents. Keep in mind, however, that they can also be used for humans & other animals.

The kits are compact (6x25ml amber glass bottles), can last for years if stored correctly, have well over 100 doses in each bottle & are very handy to keep in the home, office, work shed &/or stable etc.

Each kit comes with an information pamphlet giving detailed instructions on the use & storage of the remedies, plus assorted gauzes, alcohol wipes, latex free gloves, bandage, band aids & a plastic bag.

EQUINE HOMOEOPATHIC FIRST AID KIT REMEDIES

APIS – insect bites, stings & fluid filled swellings which produce sensitive, hot, red spots with stinging sensation.

ARNICA – falls, bumps, bruises, mild shock, mild concussion. Muscle soreness &/or cramping from over-exertion. Helps absorb blood clots after injuries. Aids is restoring muscle memory. Very helpful during and after pregnancy.

CALENDULA – #1 Wound Healer. Promotes rapid cell growth & scar-less healing for wounds. Helps relieve pain.

HYPERICUM – Nerve injuries. Deep lacerations, head injuries, excessive pain, crush injuries, spinal cord injuries, shock, etc. Contains anti-bacterial & anti-fungal properties to deter infection.

LEDUM – Puncture wounds e.g. bites from dogs, spiders, mosquitoes etc or splinters, rusty nails, needles etc. Helps prevent tetanus. The wound site will be puffy, cool & pale (opposite of Apis), better for cool & rest, worse for heat & motion.

RUTA GRAV. – . Injuries to tendons, ligaments, cartilage &/or muscle that result in sprains, strains & lameness that is worse from movement, but better when rubbed or scratched in the affected area.
